Access to Records – Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, our government is reducing operations to essential services to limit exposure to COVID-19 while balancing the need to continue essential operations.

Your access request is important, however the Northern Health Region’s ability to respond to requests within the acts legislated time frames may be impacted until the situation stabilizes. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.

 Please contact the Regional Privacy and Access Officer at 1-888-340-6742 or by email privacy@nrha.ca if you wish to discuss.

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) provides you with the following rights:

  • the right of access to your personal information maintained by the Northern Health Region (NHR);
  • the right to request a correction to any information maintained about you by the NHR;
  • the right of access to information in records maintained by NHR.

FIPPA also protects your personal information. It establishes rules for how we are permitted to collect, use and disclose your personal information.

FIPPA does not apply to information contained in health records/medical records. For information about accessing your personal health information, refer to our section entitled Access to Personal Health Information.
