Health Care Advisors

We believe that listening to people with lived experience (patients, families and the public) is an important way to improve the Northern Health Region and ensure we are providing client and family centred care.

Health Care Advisors (Advisors) are patients, family members or members of the public who volunteer as partners with the Northern Health Region team.  They are people who want to make things better, whether they have had recent experience as a patient or they care about the “big picture” of our services.  Advisors can add many points of view. They are invited to share their own experience and provide a different lens at which to view the programs of the region.

There are many ways you can help us to ensure the Northern Health Region is providing client and family centred care, such as:

Share a personal story of your health care experience;

  • Work on a committee alongside staff and other stakeholders;
  • Participate in surveys or focus groups;
  • Provide feedback by reviewing specific policies, processes or patient education materials.
