Thompson Obstetrics Receives Cuddle Cot

The Thompson Obstetrics department has received a Cuddle Cot to support families through perinatal loss.

Thompson General Hospital is deeply grateful to receive a CuddleCot from Manitoba Angel Dresses, a non-profit organization dedicated to easing the grief experienced by families who lose a baby. Having been fortunate to receive Angel Dresses for many years, Thompson General Hospital was selected from all obstetrical sites in Manitoba to receive this special gift.

The CuddleCot is a unique cooling device that offers grieving parents the precious gift of time to bond with their baby after loss. Unlike traditional refrigerated cold cots, the CuddleCot is portable and can be used with any existing bassinet or cot, providing parents the flexibility to spend time with their baby wherever they choose.

This additional time allows families to create lasting memories, helps mothers recover from the effects of medication, and enables them to plan without feeling rushed. It also gives family members the opportunity to visit and support the parents, all while keeping their baby nearby. The CuddleCot helps preserve precious memories by allowing parents to bond with their baby during a difficult time—memories they may not otherwise have if their baby was taken to a mortuary.

It offers parents the opportunity to hold, kiss, and spend extended time with their baby, born to the angels.

We are extremely grateful to the “Manitoba Angel dresses”, for choosing our Obstetrical unit to receive such a special gift for our northern patients.
