November is Fall Prevention Month!
It takes a community to prevent a fall: We all have a role to play!
Falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults and one-third of those who fall will never return home. *
Did you know that most falls are preventable? To decrease your risk of a fall, it is important to Move, Improve, Remove!
At home:
- Move your body to build you balance, strength and flexibility with regular physical activity.
- Improve your health by reviewing medication regularly with your healthcare provider or pharmacist and discuss any side effects, keep up your social connections, check your eyesight and hearing.
- Remove hazards to keep floors clutter free, installing grab bars in bathroom, use handrails and turn on lights, wear well-fitting and supportive footwear inside and outside.
Together, we can help keep people active, independent, injury-free and healthy.
