Mental Health

 

Mental Wellness is a group of services that focus on all aspects of mental wellness and mental illness support and services, including, Mental Health Promotion, Suicide Prevention and the overall comprehensive Health of our Communities. Public knowledge exchange, and specific programs to promote healthy behavior change are offered by our Health Promotion and Prevention Staff. This includes community based services for individuals who fall within the spectrum of addiction related issues and challenges.

In addition, we have psychiatric acute care facilities that promote the stabilization of those with a lived experience in Mental Illness and short term acute care needs. This is an aspect of service that is linked to ongoing care needs through Community Mental Health. The community Mental Health services is focused on risk reductions, recovery, and resiliency for individuals experiencing poor mental wellbeing and/or an enduring mental illness.

Mental Health Access

If you are living with mental illness, know that you can experience recovery and hope. Among many supports, Community Mental Health services will assess, provide counselling, education and referral services to adults, children, seniors and adolescents. Following an assessment, psychiatry and psychology consultations are available when necessary, with services provided in many communities in the Northern Health Region.

Mental Health Crisis

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis: you are not alone and we can help. It starts with a call to the Manitoba Suicide Prevention & Support Line at 1-877-435-7170. If your situation is an emergency, please call 911 or attend your local emergency department.
