Northern Health Region releases new five-year Strategic Plan

June 1, 2023 – The Northern Health Region has developed a new five-year Strategic Plan. The 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, which officially took effect on April 1, 2023, will provide direction to the organization over the next five years.

Northern Health Region Board Chair Carrie Atkinson said it is this Board’s commitment to act upon the mission, vision, values, priorities, and goals, and to make strategy a central part of routine conversation.

“The Strategic Plan provides guidance and direction to all levels of the organization as we continue on the journey forward with our new Vision: Accessible, respectful, inclusive, and safe healthcare for everyone,” Atkinson said. “The Strategic Plan was developed in collaboration and under the direction of the Board of Directors and in consultation with numerous stakeholders.”

NHR Chief Executive Officer Raj Sewda added “We would like to thank all our staff as well as our very valued stakeholders for their input into this planning document. This Strategic Plan is a document that well articulates the destination the Board expects our organization to focus on and work towards.”

The four strategic priorities listed within the new plan are:

• Eliminate Indigenous-Specific Racism
• Provide a Positive Patient Experience
• Healthy Workforce
• Sustainable and Adaptable Organization
