Your Stay

Your care is our priority.

When you stay in our hospitals or personal care homes, we want you to feel safe and comfortable. Family supports are welcome during visiting hours or wherever deemed safe and appropriate to support you.

During your stay, to help with your care plan, you may be asked health questions such as: past and current conditions, whether you have had surgery, what kind of medications or supplements you may be taking, if you have food or drug allergies, etc. If you do not understand or need more information, please do not hesitate to ask your care provider for clarification.

Preparing for your treatment plan is also important. Remember that if you have documented your wishes about the health care you want to receive during your stay or in the future, let your health provider know you have a health care directive or ask for information on advance care planning.

Whether you are staying in one of our hospitals or personal care homes, coming in for a day test or procedure or visiting a loved one, we are pleased to help you.

Family members, designated care providers or support persons play a vital role

During visits to hospitals or personal care homes, family members or designated care provider(s) are considered an important part of the care team and will be treated as such. In turn, it is expected that visitors demonstrate equally respectful behavior and follow infection controls in place.

  • Visits from family members, designated care providers or support persons are encouraged in our facilities
  • The presence of family members plays a vital role in the comfort, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of patients and residents.
  • At the time of admission the patient or resident will be asked by staff to identify the family member(s) or designated care provider(s) they wish to be present during their health care experience. Patients or residents may update their preferences at any time.
  • Staff will note this information in the health record to ensure all team members are aware.
  • Substitute Decision Makers will participate in these discussions where patient is unable to provide the information.
  • The number of family members or designated care provider(s) who visit at any one time will be determined in collaboration with the patient and care team. There may be situations where limitations may have to be put in place.
