Long Term Care Update July 14, 2025

The Northern Health Region and Shared Health acknowledge the stress and uncertainty this situation has caused residents, families, and the community. We remain fully committed to supporting the wellbeing of all individuals affected and are working diligently to facilitate a safe return home for everyone as soon as possible.

The safety, health, and comfort of patients and PCH residents remains the highest priority for the Northern Health Region and Shared Health. We are working with Manitoba Wildfire Services and the Emergency Management Organization to closely monitor the ongoing wildfire situation and conduct thorough risk assessments, including the impact of wildfire smoke.

On Thursday, July 10th, the community of Thompson faced multiple risks including heavy smoke. This led to the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily relocate personal care home residents to ensure their safety. The temporary relocation of Thompson residents to Flin Flon was implemented as a short-term measure in response to rapidly changing environmental conditions.

As of today, residents of the Flin Flon Personal Care Home have begun returning to their home facility. Northern Lights Manor residents will return to Flin Flon in the coming days.

All transfers are being conducted with the utmost attention to the individual health needs and comfort of each resident.
